The label pays tribute to that background and its emphasis on structure, balance and proportion. The fruit comes from two vineyards in Alexander Valley, Sonoma County, with 10- to 15-year-old vines on rocky and loam soils, and the 2023 blend is 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petite Sirah, 4% Malbec and 2% Merlot. After a four-day cold soak and a seven-day fermentation in stainless steel, the wine is aged in 60-gallon barrels, 75% French oak and 25% Radoux American oak, and bottled at 14.5% ABV. James Suckling scored it 90 points, noting lush dark berry fruit with smooth, beautifully integrated tannins; expect black cherry, cassis, ripe plum, a hint of spice and a long, silky finish. It is a lot of Alexander Valley Cabernet for the money and an easy match with burgers, grilled tri-tip or a hearty lasagna.
