Hommage is the winery's flagship Cabernet, an artist-series bottling named in tribute to Shrem's late wife Mitsuko, and it comes from the estate Tenma Vineyard at the warm northern end of Napa Valley, whose name is Japanese for Pegasus. Now under the Vintage Wine Estates family of brands, the winery continues to bottle Hommage only from the vineyard's top blocks, with fermentation in small lots and aging in predominantly new French oak barrels. Bottled at 14.5% alcohol, the wine shows ripe plum, dark blackberry, and black currant on the nose, then black fruit, a hint of hibiscus, espresso, and dark chocolate on a silky palate framed by strong but balanced tannins and a lengthy finish. The winery recommends rack of lamb, eggplant parmesan, or a good hamburger with this 750ml bottle.
