The wine has typically been vinified with 40 to 60 percent whole clusters, adding spice and lift. Bottled at 13.5% alcohol, it is a medium-bodied, elegant style rather than a heavy one. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate gave a past release 98 points and described dried red cherry and strawberry with graphite, smoke, tea and violet, layered red fruit, finely grained tannins, bright acidity and a long finish with a tremendous flavor-to-weight ratio.
