It aged 16 months in French oak, 60 percent of it new, which adds structure to a ripe, powerful style. Bottled at 15.1% alcohol, it is dark ruby in the glass with kirsch and black cherry aromas, graphite and a hint of cigar. The palate is rich and intense, with plum and blueberry flavors, and the long finish carries anise and firm tannin. It is a Pinot Noir that rewards a decant and can be cellared for several years.
