It comes from Feliciano Vivanco y Asociados, NOM 1414, where the Vivanco family has farmed blue Weber agave in the Jalisco Highlands for five generations, and it was developed with master distiller Leopoldo Solís Tinoco, whose name is on the label. The agave is slow-roasted in stone and brick ovens for up to 36 hours, roller-milled, fermented in stainless steel with champagne yeast while classical music plays to the tanks, and double distilled in copper pot stills, with nothing added at any stage. The 2011 Tequila.net Awards named it Best Highland Reposado, and its editors scored it 93, describing a medium straw color, sweet agave, vegetal notes and cinnamon on the nose, sweet agave and orange on the palate, a buttery, caramel body and a spiced orange finish with cherry and mint. Other tasters pick up vanilla, apple, almond, mango and papaya over a light oak frame, with the agave still clearly in charge.
