The wine is aged in a mix of French and American oak, finishing around 14.2% ABV in a 750ml bottle. Donaldson describes aromas of black cherry, blackcurrant, rose petal and roasted walnut leading to a palate of dark cherry, toasted hazelnut, fresh sage and mocha with tannins that are firm in youth and soften with a year or two in bottle. The 2018 release earned 92 points from Wilfred Wong of Wine.com, who praised its black fruit, pencil lead and anise. Pair it with grilled ribeye, braised short ribs or roasted duck.
