The cool coastal air means a long growing season and good natural acidity. Bottled at 14.0% alcohol, the wine offers aromas of cherry, rose petal and pomegranate with a subtle smoky background, and a juicy palate supported by fine-grain tannins. The earthy, savory side of the wine makes it a natural match for cured meats such as prosciutto and bresaola, roast chicken or duck, sauteed crimini, maitake or chanterelle mushrooms, and soft cheeses like brie or mascarpone. Serve it a little below room temperature and give it fifteen to twenty minutes of air.
