Recent vintages grow on Chualar sandy loam over granitic schist, use clones 858 and 115, ferment in small lots and age about ten months in French oak with a light share of new barrels. Bottled at 13.5% alcohol, the wine leads with crushed raspberry, rhubarb and candied cherry aromas. The palate is silky and fruit-driven, with lush red fruit, a hint of spice and a soft, rounded finish. Serve it lightly chilled with roast chicken, salmon or grilled sausages.
