The Estates Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon is drawn mostly from To Kalon, where the mild, dry 2021 season produced small, concentrated berries. The blend is 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Cabernet Franc, 2.5% Petit Verdot, 2% Merlot and 1.5% Malbec, fermented with 23 days on the skins and aged 20 months in 100% new French oak before final blending; it finishes at 14.5% ABV in a 750ml bottle. Aromas of plum, blackberry, fig, black tea leaf, vanilla, sage and tarragon lead to a rich, juicy palate of dark fruit, baking spice and toast with firm structure and well-integrated tannins. James Suckling scored it 94 points, praising its focused cherry and blueberry fruit, and Wine Spectator gave 93, noting mint and boysenberry with a drinking window through 2038.
