Artemis, named for the Greek goddess of the hunt, is the winery's Napa Valley appellation Cabernet, built from a blend of 97.5% Cabernet Sauvignon with 1.5% Petit Verdot, 0.5% Cabernet Franc and 0.5% Merlot. Fruit comes from estate and grower sites across the valley, led by Atlas Peak (42%), Arcadia Vineyard in Coombsville (11%), Battuello Vineyard in St. Helena (11%), plus parcels in Calistoga and the Stags Leap District. It ferments in stainless steel and ages 14 months in 100% French oak, 57% new, at 14.0% ABV. Expect ripe currant, Bing cherry, blackberry compote, bay laurel, fresh tobacco leaf, graphite and cedar, with dark chocolate, black currant and Indian spice on the palate and a finish of volcanic earth and crushed-stone minerality.
