Fruit is harvested at night to stay cold, and winemaker James MacPhail visits regularly to advise on pruning and fruit maintenance as part of The Calling's Single Vineyard Series. Bottled at 14.0% alcohol, this Pinot Noir has a perfumed nose of bright red fruit and citrus. The palate has elegant texture and layers of complexity, with red berries, dried herbs and citrus peel, and a hint of earthiness. It is well balanced, with smooth tannins and measured acidity, and the finish is long and savory. The wine is meant to show what one vineyard tastes like rather than a blend of many.
