Sourced exclusively from Ridge 7 of the estate's Veeder Hills Vineyard high on Mount Veeder, the 2019 was harvested October 16 to 29 and blended from 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Malbec and 3% Petit Verdot by director of winemaking Dave Guffy with consulting winemaker Celia Welch, the Napa legend behind Scarecrow. It was aged 22 months in French oak, 65% new, and bottled at 14.6% ABV in 750ml. The wine delivers lush blackberry mountain fruit with bramble, an earthy brown-spice undertone, dark cocoa and sweet vanilla and baking spice, carried by velvety, round tannins and a long finish. Wine Enthusiast rated the 2019 a remarkable 97 points, following 94-point scores from both Wine Enthusiast and Wine Spectator for the 2018, and the wine will reward two decades in the cellar.
