The base bourbon is the one that made Woodinville's name: founded in 2010 by Orlin Sorensen and Brett Carlile with the late David Pickerell (formerly of Maker's Mark) as their guide, the distillery grows its grain on the Omlin family farm in Quincy and ages in Central Washington's hot summers and cold winters; Moët Hennessy owns it today. The cocktail is bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV). Expect maple and orange zest up front, a bourbon-forward middle of caramel, vanilla, toasted oak, and baking spice, and a warm finish turned slightly dry by the bitters.
