Winter Rum Cocktails to keep you Warm this Winter
Winter Mai Tai
The Winter Mai Tai uses dark rum instead of white rum. The dark rum creates a richer and fuller flavor. Ingredients include 1.5 ounce of Plantation Original Dark Rum, half ounce of Fernet-Branca Liqueur, once ounce of combier apricot liqueur, one ounce of fresh lime juice, one ounce syrup, half ounce of orange juice, half ounce of pineapple juice, and four dashes of Angostura bitters. Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake until chilled, garnish with orange and a brandied cherry.
Plantation Original Dark Rum has notes of plum, banana, and vanilla that is rich and intense. It is blended in Jamaica and Barbados and then matured in France creating a spiced and smokey rum making it great for cocktails.
Infuse white rum with glove, star anise, and clove by adding a stick of cinnamon, five ground cloves and three ground star anise to 750 ml of aged rum and let steep for 12 hours. Add a drop of Licor liqueur, mint, lime juice, and soda. The ingredients list for the winter mojito consists of two ounces of spiced rum, ¾ ounce of fresh lime juice, ½ ounce of Demerara syrup, one spoon of Licor 43, one ounce of soda water and a mint sprig. Add ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake. Garnish with mint.
Licor 43 recreated the Liqvor Mirabillis, an ancient Roman rum recipe. Once the rum has matured, it is exposed to subzero temperatures and micro-filtered to create a golden concoction.
This winter cocktail can be made with one once of Banks 5 Island Rum, one once of Cruzan black strap rum, ¾ ounce of fresh lime juice, and ¾ ounce of syrup/ Add the ingredients in a shaker filled with ice and shake well. Garnish with lime.
