2XO "The Sneakerhead Blend" Bourbon Whiskey

Dixon Dedman collects sneakers, and the fifth blend in 2XO's Icon Series is named for it — a nod to sneaker culture and the collectibles that express a personal sense of style. Dedman is the blender who resurrected his great-great-grandfather's Kentucky Owl in 2014 and made it a cult, grew up in the test kitchen of his family's James Beard-winning Beaumont Inn, and launched 2XO — "Two Times Oak" — in late 2022 around one idea: every expression gets a second round of oak. The Sneakerhead Blend, released September 2024, marries two proprietary Kentucky mash bills, a high-rye 35% bourbon and a moderate-rye 18% bourbon; the 35% rye is double-barreled into new charred oak at both #3 and #4 char for nine months to a year, and that double-barreled component makes up 60% of the blend, the extra oak building sweetness to balance the rye spice. 2XO describes a viscous, rich mouthfeel landing heavy on the mid-palate with cinnamon, allspice, and cedar, and a long, smooth, peppery finish. Expect caramel and brown sugar on the nose over toasted oak and a distinct rye pepper, opening into a dense, spicy palate where the char sweetness holds the rye in check, finishing long and warm.
