Friedeberg, born in Italy in 1936 and raised in Mexico City, trained as an architect before turning to art, and his bottle draws on that fascination: a dense pattern of lines, shapes, and shades evoking buildings, places, and landscapes, wrapped around the Milenio pyramid. Inside is the standard 1800 Milenio: created in 2000 to mark the millennium from 250 years of Cuervo family tradition, 100% blue Weber agave hand-harvested at peak ripeness, steamed in traditional ovens, double-distilled, aged around five years in American oak, and finished for about four months in French oak Cognac barrels, bottled at 40% ABV. Drink Spirits found a dark amber pour with strong old oak, vanilla, almond, sawdust, and cinnamon over white pepper and roasted agave, an entry of cigar box and old oak. The Whisky Exchange: milk chocolate, earthy vanilla, peppery agave, cinnamon, and roasted coffee, more like a rare Cognac than a tequila.
