This is a Corazón single-barrel añejo aged in a barrel that held 1792 bourbon — picked by the San Diego Barrel Boys, our own local barrel-pick crew, for San Diego. Corazón de Agave is Sazerac's highland tequila from Casa San Matías, NOM 1103, the family-run Los Altos distillery led by master distiller Rocío Rodríguez; because Sazerac owns Buffalo Trace and Barton 1792, Corazón's single-barrel program lets retailers and clubs select añejo aged in barrels that held Blanton's, Weller, Eagle Rare, 1792, Sazerac Rye, or Buffalo Trace — and 1792 barrels, from Barton's high-rye Bardstown bourbon, give a spicier, drier cask than the Frankfort ones. The tequila is 100% seven-to-ten-year blue Weber agave from a single Los Altos farm, cooked forty-eight hours in clay ovens, double-distilled in stainless pots, aged more than a year in the 1792 barrel — stored in the first row of the Acatic aging house for airflow, checked every two months — and bottled at 40% ABV from that one cask; the barrel number is on the label.
