Every vintage of Tequila Ocho's Añejo comes from a single, specific estate or field, and unlike most tequila brands that blend for year-to-year consistency, Ocho deliberately lets each release taste genuinely different depending on where that year's agave was grown — some batches run to just a few thousand bottles from one small highland field. Made by Master Distiller Carlos Camarena using slow brick-oven cooking, natural airborne yeast fermentation in open pine vats, and traditional pot stills, the spirit rests exactly one year in third-fill, deliberately "exhausted" ex-American whiskey barrels, chosen specifically so the wood adds warmth without burying the agave character underneath. Bottled at 40% ABV. Tastings.com scored it 92 points, and Wine Enthusiast's Kara Newman found a notably light, vegetal expression in her blind tasting — pale straw color, peppery and flinty aromas, salted almond and bell pepper leading into a warming, salted-vanilla finish. Other vintages have shown quite different character: cacao nib and golden raisin with a buttery texture in one release, green pineapple and rosemary in another. Whichever specific estate your bottle comes from, expect real complexity and genuine agave-forward character rather than a generic, one-size-fits-all añejo.
