Château de Laubade XO Bas-Armagnac comes from the leading estate of the Bas-Armagnac, built in 1870 and run today by the third generation of the Lesgourgues family. Laubade is a single vineyard of 260 acres, distilled on the property and aged in Gascon oak, and the estate keeps more than 80 vintages in its cellars. The XO is a blend of well-aged eaux-de-vie from those cellars, bottled at 40% ABV.
Expect a rich, rounded Armagnac: dried apricot, prune and candied orange on the nose, a full palate of toffee, vanilla, cocoa and baking spice with polished oak, and a long finish showing the nutty rancio of mature brandy. It is a sipping Armagnac for after dinner, and a fine match for a cigar.
