The Bodega is the sherry counterpart to Arran's Barrel Reserve — both launched with the 2020 rebrand as a matched pair showing what the distillery's spirit does under two different cask regimes, no finishes involved. This one matures roughly seven years exclusively in first-fill Oloroso sherry-seasoned American oak hogsheads, a deliberate choice over European oak because American oak better complements Arran's fruit-forward house style, bottled at cask strength (around 55.8%, batch dependent), non-chill filtered with no added color. Expect copper-amber color and a rich, clean sherry nose — fresh figs, cherry liqueur, blackberries, grape skin, orange peel, cinnamon, and crystallized ginger, with Arran's tropical fruit and vanilla still identifiable underneath. The palate turns darker and fuller: figs and dates lead, joined by raisins, red berries, milk chocolate, treacle, tobacco, and a real hit of ginger, pepper, and clove, finishing long, warming, and surprisingly dry. Reviewers frequently compare it to Aberlour A'bunadh and GlenDronach Cask Strength, with several preferring The Bodega for its brighter, fresher character.
