Bittermens 'Elemakule Tiki Bitters are a taste of the islands from Bittermens, the craft bitters company founded by Avery and Janet Glasser that helped launch the modern bitters revival. They were inspired by tiki legend Brian Miller, who asked whether Bittermens would make a falernum; instead, the company created the first bitter designed specifically for tiki cocktails.
The formula draws on both the Eastern (Polynesian) and Western (Caribbean) schools of tropical drinks, with primary flavors of cinnamon and allspice and a strong supporting cast of spices. Bittermens recommends a dash in any libation served in a shrunken head, a volcano, or a miniature ceramic Moai: a Mai Tai, a Zombie, a Jungle Bird, a Painkiller, or a Dark 'n' Stormy.
