Siete Décadas is Siete Leguas' seventieth-anniversary blanco — the house's tahona-and-mule tequila bottled at higher strength to mark seven decades of the González family in Atotonilco el Alto. Don Ignacio González Vargas founded Siete Leguas in 1952 and named it for Pancho Villa's horse; the family's two distilleries in the highlands, NOM 1120, are among the last to crush agave with a mule-drawn tahona and ferment with the fibers, and the house made Patrón for its first decade before Patrón built its own hacienda. Siete Décadas is 100% estate highland blue Weber agave, slow-cooked in stone ovens, crushed by the mule-drawn tahona, fermented with the fibers and natural yeast in wooden tanks, double-distilled in copper, and bottled unaged at 42% ABV — a touch above the standard Blanco — in a commemorative bottle, additive-free; check your bottle for the lot.
