Description: Founded in 1856 in Paris, Kentucky, home to the heart of Bourbon County, Chicken Cock American Whiskey rose to fame during the 19th century. James A. Miller established a distillery and began producing Chicken Cock, a unique type of whiskey specific to the Bluegrass region. It was a popular choice in prohibition-era speakeasies and was often smuggled in nondescript tin cans. The original distillery where Chicken Cock was made unfortunately burned down in the 1950s. Known as The Famous Old Brand, Chicken Cock Whiskey has been brought back to life, as good spirits never go out of style. The new collection of heritage whiskies stays true to the rich 160-year-old brand identity while updating it slightly. James A. Miller passed away a few years after starting Chicken Cock leaving behind a small inheritance for a trusted distillery clerk and an emerging whiskey brand. The clerk, George G. White, carried on the legacy of Chicken Cock Whiskey and turned it into a legend. White and partners were able to purchase the distillery and continue production. At its peak, the distillery was producing 400 bushels of grain per day and 9,000 barrels of Chicken Cock Whiskey per year. In 1880, White changed the name of the distillery to G.G. White Distillery, but the spirit retained its original name, Old J.A. Miller Chicken Cock, as a tribute to James A. Miller.
