Bramley & Gage began as a fruit farm in the West Country; founders Edward Bramley Kain and Penelope Gage started making fruit liqueurs and sloe gin to use up leftover crop, found booze more profitable than farming, and had been distilling a dry gin as a sloe base for years before 6 O'clock launched in 2010, one of the original pioneers of the UK gin boom. The London Dry uses seven botanicals — juniper, coriander, angelica, orris, elderflower, orange peel, and winter savory, a piquant perennial herb with facets of black pepper, thyme, and mint that almost no other gin uses — bottled at 43% ABV.
