Arbikie AK's Gin

AK was Alexander Kirkwood Stirling — father of John, Iain, and David Stirling, and the inspiration for the brothers to build Arbikie Distillery on the family farm on the Angus coast near Arbroath, Scotland's first single-site, field-to-bottle distillery. This gin is his tribute, and it was built entirely on the estate: the base spirit distilled from Zulu wheat grown a stone's throw from the still house, flavored with fresh honey from the farm's own bees foraging the local hedgerows, plus black pepper, mace, and cardamom chosen by master distiller Kirsty Black to reflect AK's warm, spicy character. Distilled in copper pot stills and bottled at 43% ABV. It won the World's Best Martini competition at the 2018 San Francisco International Spirits Awards. Expect crème brûlée, butterscotch, honey, and vanilla on the nose, opening into a warm, spicy palate where black pepper and cardamom sit over sweet honey and caramel, with juniper holding the structure, finishing long and satisfying.
