Bramble is Bombay Sapphire's berry gin, and it's built the way a bramble hedge actually tastes — tart, not sweet. Launched in 2020, it starts with the full Sapphire recipe: ten botanicals including Tuscan juniper, coriander, angelica, licorice, orris, cassia, almond, lemon peel, Javanese cubeb berries, and West African grains of paradise, vapour-infused at Laverstoke Mill in Hampshire so the aromatics are drawn out rather than boiled. Then the distilled gin is infused with a natural extract of freshly harvested blackberries and raspberries — no artificial flavor, no added sugar — which gives it a deep crimson color and a bright, fresh fruit character, bottled at 37.5% ABV. The name comes from the Bramble cocktail, Dick Bradsell's 1980s London classic of gin, lemon, sugar, and crème de mûre, and Bombay Bramble effectively puts most of that drink in the bottle. Expect fresh blackberry and raspberry on the nose over Sapphire's citrus and spice, opening into a palate where the berries read tart and juicy rather than jammy, with juniper and lemon keeping it clearly a gin, finishing crisp and fruity. Honest note: it's a flavored, lower-proof gin, and London Dry purists should reach for the Dry or the Sapphire. For everyone else it's one of the easiest summer bottles made.
