German husband-and-wife founders Robin and Tessa Gerlach fell in love with the bush on trips through Kenya, Tanzania, and South Africa, came home to Hamburg, and built a gin around African botanicals — then committed 15% of profits to elephant conservation, including the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust orphanage near Nairobi. Each hand-written label bears the name of a great tusker the brand's partner foundations protect. The gin itself is a London Dry with a twist: fourteen botanicals macerated 24 hours and distilled one-shot in copper pot stills in Germany — juniper, cassia, sweet orange peel, ginger, lavender, elderflower, pimento, mountain pine needles, and fresh apples from a nearby orchard, alongside five rare African botanicals: baobab, buchu (a South African leaf reminiscent of blackcurrant), devil's claw, lion's tail, and African wormwood.
