Mossburn Teaninich 2007 is a vintage-dated release from Mossburn Distillers, the independent bottler behind Torabhaig Distillery on Skye, built around single malt from Teaninich, the rarely bottled Highland distillery founded in 1817 on the Cromarty Firth whose fruity, grassy spirit mostly disappears into Johnnie Walker. Mossburn married Teaninich casks with a touch of other malt, matured in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, and bottled it at a cask strength of 118 proof.
It offers a sweet, fruity nose of vanilla, honey and apple, then a complex, layered palate of ripe fruit, nutmeg and cinnamon with hints of dark chocolate and oak giving rich depth, finishing long and warming with a subtle lingering spice.
