Música is Clase Azul's 2024 Día de los Muertos edition — a 26-month añejo finished in Scotch whisky casks, in a deep plum decanter with a 24-karat gold-plated accordion-playing Catrina on the stopper. Arturo Lomelí founded Clase Azul in 1997 and remains its master distiller; every year since 2019 the house has released a limited Día de los Muertos decanter honoring one facet of the celebration, and 2024's honors music — the mariachi, the ranchera, the songs sung to the dead. The tequila is 100% organic Los Altos blue Weber agave, slow-cooked in stone ovens, double-distilled, aged twenty-six months in American whiskey casks, finished in Scotch whisky casks, and bottled at 40% ABV at Casa Tradición, NOM 1595, in a numbered decanter thrown and hand-painted by artisans in Santa María Canchesda with a fine-patina gold ornament. Sip Tequila describes the Scotch finish as layering remarkable depth and complexity. Expect the house Añejo's dark chocolate, butterscotch, and caramel — Old Town Tequila's notes — with the Scotch cask adding malt, dried fruit, a faint peaty smoke, and cereal sweetness, smooth and long.
