Rosado is Don Julio's pink one — a reposado finished in Ruby Port casks from Portugal's Douro, in the tall 1942-style penca bottle. In 1942 a young Julio González took a loan to open La Primavera in Atotonilco el Alto, in the Los Altos highlands, and built Mexico's original luxury tequila; Diageo owns it today, still made at NOM 1449, and Rosado launched in 2022 as a permanent addition to the luxury tier. It's 100% mature highland blue Weber agave, slow-cooked in brick ovens, double-distilled, rested in ex-bourbon American oak, and finished in Ruby Port casks from the Douro wine region of northern Portugal, which tint it pink and lend the wine's fruit, bottled at 40% ABV. 12x75: the Port finish adds red fruit and florals. Expect a nose of strawberry, cherry, rose, and cooked agave with vanilla and a hint of Port sweetness, opening into a soft, rounded, gently sweet palate of red fruit, caramel, light oak, and agave with a smooth, moderate finish.
