The 2022 Old Rip Van Winkle 10 Year is a back-vintage release of the most sought-after bourbon family in the world — Buffalo Trace's wheated recipe aged ten years and bottled at 107 proof. Julian Pappy Van Winkle ran Stitzel-Weller from 1935; his son Julian Jr. kept the Old Rip name alive after the distillery was sold in 1972, and grandson Julian III took the family stocks to Buffalo Trace in 2002, where Sazerac now distills every Van Winkle from the wheated mashbill — roughly 70% corn, 16% wheat, 14% malted barley — it also uses for Weller.
