Cascahuin Reposado Tequila
Cascahuín Reposado rests six to eight months in American oak barrels with more than twenty years of tequila maturation in them — seasoned wood that adds spice and softness without turning agave into whiskey. Tequilera Cascahuín is a fourth-generation family distillery in El Arenal founded by Salvador Rosales Briseño in 1904, run today by master distiller Salvador Chava Rosales at NOM 1123, and the house behind Wild Common and Siembra Valles; the name means hill of light, for the nearby hills that draw lightning. The Reposado is 100% lowlands blue Weber agave slow-roasted in stone ovens, fermented naturally, distilled in copper, aged six to eight months in well-seasoned American oak, and bottled at 40% ABV, additive-free — verified by Tequila Matchmaker. Sip Tequila: soft cooked agave, cinnamon, warm earth, and subtle oak on the nose, then cooked agave into oak, clove, and cinnamon with ripe banana sweetness mid-palate — earthy, creamy, and traditionally crafted, proof that restraint and tradition still produce the most compelling spirits. Boozemakers places the house firmly in the artisanal camp with Fortaleza and Siete Leguas. Honest note: seasoned barrels and a short rest keep this an agave-first reposado — the Blanco's wet earth and pepper are still there under the spice — and it's the reposado for the enthusiast, not the whiskey convert. Neat, on a big cube, in a Paloma, or an Old Fashioned riff. The hill of light, rested.
