Arbikie Kirsty's Gin
Kirsty's Gin is named for the woman who makes it. Kirsty Black is Arbikie's master distiller — named among the world's top ten female master distillers — and this is her signature: a gin built entirely from the Stirling family's farm on the Angus coast near Arbroath, Scotland's first single-site, field-to-bottle distillery. Where almost every gin starts with bought-in neutral grain spirit, this one starts with potatoes: Maris Piper, King Edward, and Cultra tubers grown in the estate's fields, mashed, fermented, and distilled on site into a base spirit with genuine weight and texture. The botanicals are the Angus coast in a glass — kelp from the shoreline, carline thistle from the cliffs, and blaeberries (wild Scottish bilberries) from the hills — alongside juniper, all locally foraged or grown, bottled at 43% ABV. Expect a fresh, maritime nose of sea air and juniper with a soft berry note, opening into a palate of remarkable smoothness from the potato base — creamy, slightly sweet — with a whisper of salinity from the kelp, earthy thistle, and tart blaeberry fruit, finishing clean and long. It's the rare gin that tastes like a specific place: red sandstone soil, North Sea wind, and the fields between. The distillery's Field to Bottle ethos means every ingredient can be traced to a specific plot. Superb in a Martini, a G&T with a blackberry, or a Gimlet.
