BizarreBQ is Ardbeg finished in what the distillery calls BBQ casks — double-charred oak and Pedro Ximénez sherry — made with the grill chef Christian Stevenson, DJ BBQ, bottled at 50.9%, and Secret Whiskey Society says the BBQ casks are the star. Ardbeg has distilled on Islay's Kildalton coast since 1815 and was rescued by Glenmorangie in 1997 — LVMH owns both now — with Dr. Bill Lumsden directing the whisky; BizarreBQ, 2023, is a limited edition built for the grill: Ardbeg's 55-ppm spirit matured in a mix of double-charred oak casks, PX sherry casks, and casks the distillery scorched over an open flame, bottled at 50.9% without chill filtration.
