Baluarte Añejo is a handmade 100% blue Weber agave tequila from Jalisco, Mexico. Baluarte translates as "stronghold," a name meant to invoke the protection of something precious, in this case the tequila itself, and the añejo is the range's most patiently made expression, aged in white oak barrels for more than a year.
Building on the house style of vivid cooked agave with pineapple, citrus, and herbal thyme, the oak adds vanilla, caramel, and toasted wood with a smooth, rounded texture and a long finish at 40% ABV. It is a sipping tequila for a snifter or a single large cube, and a natural after dinner with dark chocolate. Baluarte's blanco and reposado have earned medals at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, and this 750 ml añejo is the family's finest.
