It comes from Buffalo Trace's Warehouse H, the metal-clad rickhouse Colonel Albert Blanton built in 1935 with its own heating system, where the distillery's high-rye Mash Bill #2 — shared with Elmer T. Expect everything the 93-proof Blanton's promises, concentrated: caramel, butterscotch, and vanilla on the nose with charred corn, leather, and a burst of rye spice, opening into a dense, oily palate of toffee, dark cherry, cinnamon, nutmeg, and oak, finishing very long with heat that opens beautifully to a splash of water.
