Brancamenta is the mint version of Fernet-Branca, the legendary Italian bitter made by the Fratelli Branca distillery in Milan since 1845. Introduced in the 1960s, it blends the same secret recipe of 27 herbs and spices, including saffron, myrrh, gentian and chamomile, with Piedmont peppermint essential oil and a touch more sugar, softening the fernet's famous punch. Bottled at 28% ABV in a 750ml bottle.
The taste is cool, intense peppermint over the bitter, herbal, slightly medicinal core of Fernet-Branca, finishing long, fresh and bracing. The classic serve is ice-cold from the freezer or over crushed ice, and it is the traditional Italian digestivo after a heavy meal. It also makes a great fernet-and-cola with a minty twist and a fine addition to a hot chocolate. A must for fernet fans.
