This Cadenhead's 13 Year Old is an independent bottling of single malt from Fettercairn, the Highland distillery founded in 1824 at the foot of the Grampian Mountains and best known for the copper cooling ring that trickles water down the outside of its stills, producing an unusually light, fruity spirit. Cadenhead's, Scotland's oldest independent bottler, founded in 1842 and based in Campbeltown, selects casks the distillery itself rarely releases.
Bottled at 92 proof, non-chill-filtered and without added color, in Cadenhead's Original Collection style, it is Fettercairn as the distillery makes it: expect the tropical fruit, honey and toffee that define the house style, with soft oak from thirteen years in cask. Cadenhead's bottlings are limited to a single outturn, so once this one is gone, it is gone. A find for Highland malt fans and collectors of independent bottlings.
