Chareau Aloe Liqueur
Chareau is a California aloe liqueur, created in Los Angeles by Kurt Charron as an expression of the state's agriculture in a bottle. It is made in small batches by blending macerated vine fruits, eau-de-vie and bright botanicals, including cucumber, lemon peel, muskmelon and spearmint, and then adding fresh aloe vera juice as the final step. It contains no artificial ingredients and is bottled at 25% ABV in a 750ml bottle.
The taste is clean, cool and refreshing: cucumber, melon and a whisper of mint over a light grape sweetness, with the soft, vegetal character of aloe and a crisp finish. It is a bartender's favorite for spa-like cocktails: mix it with gin or vodka and soda, add it to a margarita or a Paloma, shake it with tequila and lime, or top it with sparkling wine.
