The Classic Cask Ardmore 2008 is a single-distillery bottling from the independent bottler known for its small, numbered batches of never more than 800 bottles. Ardmore is a Highland distillery founded in 1898 at Kennethmont in Aberdeenshire by the Teacher's family, and it remains one of the few mainland distilleries that peats its malt, giving its whisky a gentle, sweet smokiness quite different from Islay.
Distilled in 2008 and bottled at nine years old, this Classic Cask release captures Ardmore in its youthful prime: soft peat smoke and heather honey on the nose, then a palate of vanilla, malt, orchard fruit and a wisp of campfire, finishing clean with lingering smoke and spice. Each bottle is numbered with its distillation and bottling dates on the label. A rare independent look at a Highland peated malt that is seldom seen on its own.
