Clydeside Stobcross Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Stobcross is the first permanent single malt from The Clydeside Distillery, which opened in 2017 inside the Victorian pumphouse at Glasgow's Queen's Dock, bringing whisky-making back to the river where Scotch was once shipped to the world. Founded by the Morrison family, formerly of Morrison Bowmore, the distillery named its debut for Stobcross, the road where its story began.
Made from three ingredients, water, malted barley and yeast, matured in first-fill bourbon and sherry casks and bottled at 92 proof, non-chill-filtered and naturally colored, Stobcross is a bright, unpeated Lowland malt: wood polish, apple and a touch of tobacco leaf on the nose, then honey, orchard fruit, malt and a floral, herbal lift on the palate with a short, honeyed finish. Dramface called it new, exciting and full of potential. A taste of Glasgow's whisky revival for the curious drinker.
