Cointreau Noir is the darker, richer sibling of the classic Cointreau, made in Angers, France, by blending Cointreau's distilled sweet and bitter orange peels with fine cognac from the Rémy Martin house, then aging the blend in French oak. The result has the brightness of Cointreau with the warmth and depth of aged brandy. Bottled at 40% ABV in a 750ml bottle.
It pours luminous gold with amber highlights and turns opalescent over ice. The nose is orange zest with vanilla, honey, dried fruit and a touch of almond and walnut. The palate is fruity and fresh with a smooth texture, orange peel balanced by vanilla and oak, and a long, bittersweet finish. Sip it neat or over ice after dinner, or use it to elevate a Sidecar, an Old Fashioned or a Cointreau Noir and tonic.
