Cooperstown Distillery was founded in October 2013 by Gene Marra, a restaurateur with more than four decades in food and beverage, in downtown Cooperstown, New York, within walking distance of the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Collectible sports decanters became the distillery's calling card, starting with baseball and spreading into football, golf and soccer under the Hall of Champions name. This decanter is shaped like the head of a golf driver, with replica whippings forming the stopper and "Hole #19" etched into the glass base, a nod to the clubhouse bar where every round really ends. It is filled with Hall of Champions bourbon from Cooperstown Distillery, bottled at 90 proof (45% ABV). The distillery's whiskey program leans on New York State grain, with corn, rye, oats and malted barley in its bourbon mash, aged in new charred American oak in a mix of 15, 30 and 53-gallon barrels; Marra credits the oats with a creamier texture than the corn-heavy Kentucky style.
