Corbin Cash Merced Rye Whiskey is a true estate rye from California's Central Valley. Corbin Cash Spirits was founded in 2009 in Atwater, California by the Souza family, who have farmed D&S Farms in Merced County since 1917, and every bit of the 100% rye in this bottle was grown on the family's own land. The rye is pot-distilled, aged in new charred American oak and bottled at 90 proof.
Breaking Bourbon rated it 3 out of 5 and called it a great price for a unique-tasting 100% rye, describing anise, Granny Smith apple, rye spice and brandied cherry on the nose, Frosted Flakes cereal, green grape, rye spice, apple pie and caramel chews on the palate, and a finish that moves from heavy spice into caramel and candied apple. All-rye mash bills are rare in American whiskey, and the grain shows clearly here: bright, fresh and fruity rather than heavy with oak. Corbin Cash also grows the sweet potatoes for its vodka, making it one of the few genuinely farm-to-bottle distilleries in the state. A Central Valley original for California whiskey fans.
