Don Ciccio & Figli Limoncello is made in Washington, D.C. by Francesco Amodeo, whose family made liqueurs on Italy's Amalfi Coast for four generations before he revived the recipes in America. His limoncello follows the family method: fresh lemon zest is steeped in spirit, then blended with sugar and water, with nothing artificial. Bottled at 25% ABV (50 proof) in a 750ml bottle.
The taste is bright, fresh lemon zest with a balanced sweetness and a clean, zesty finish, closer to the limoncello made in Amalfi kitchens than to the neon-yellow commercial style. Serve it ice-cold in small glasses after dinner, pour it over ice with soda, top it with prosecco for a spritz, or use it in a lemon drop or a gin sour.
