Dulce Amargura Day of the Dead Reposado Tequila 1L
Dulce Amargura, "sweet bitterness," is a tequila house from El Arenal, Jalisco, in the Tequila Valley, and its bottles are what put it on the map: hand-painted ceramic decanters made by Mexican artisans. The Day of the Dead Reposado is its 2022 Día de los Muertos edition, a 1-liter white decanter covered in marigolds, the cempasúchil flowers laid on ofrendas, and traditional Day of the Dead motifs. Inside is a 100% blue Weber agave reposado produced at NOM 1466. The agave grows for around five years before the brand's jimadores harvest it, following methods the house has used for more than 30 years, and it's cooked in a stone and brick oven, crushed on a roller mill, fermented in stainless steel tanks and double distilled in stainless pot stills with deep well water before resting in oak. The producer doesn't publish tasting notes for this edition, which is really bought for the bottle: a limited, dated release that works as a Día de los Muertos gift, a piece for an ofrenda or back bar, or a collectible for anyone who follows the brand's collectible designs.
