Edmond Briottet Crème de Cassis de Dijon is the top-of-the-range blackcurrant liqueur from Briottet, the family house founded in Dijon, Burgundy, in 1836 and still run by the family today. Made from Burgundy blackcurrants macerated in alcohol and sweetened with sugar, it earns its Cassis de Dijon designation from its high berry content and its origin in the city where the Kir was born. Bottled at 20% ABV in a 750ml bottle.
The nose is complex and subtle, with fresh blackcurrant fruit, and the palate is rich, jammy and intense with a balanced sweetness and a long, fruity finish. It is the essential ingredient in a Kir with white Burgundy, a Kir Royale with Champagne, an El Diablo with tequila and ginger beer, or a Bramble with gin, and it is lovely drizzled over vanilla ice cream.
