Glen Scotia 15 Year Old is the sweet spot of the range from one of only three surviving Campbeltown distilleries, founded in 1832 on the peninsula that was once Scotland's whisky capital. Owned by the Loch Lomond Group, Glen Scotia matures the 15 Year in first-fill ex-bourbon and refill American oak casks, letting fifteen years of coastal aging build depth into its maritime spirit.
Bottled at 92 proof, it shows caramelized sugar, baking spice, baked apple and a maritime undertone on the nose, then a rich palate of buttery pear tart, grated nutmeg, clove, peach and dried banana, finishing long with gentle salt and oak. Drinkhacker graded it a full A and called it a clear step up in dimension and depth from the 10 Year. A superb Campbeltown malt for the price and a great gift for a Springbank fan.
