Hine Homage Grand Cru Fine Champagne Cognac is a tribute to Thomas Hine, the Dorset-born founder who gave the Jarnac house its name in the 18th century. It is a blend of Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne cognacs that includes Hine's rare Early Landed vintages, cognacs shipped young to England and aged in the damp cellars of Bristol, a practice the house has kept alive since the 1800s. It is bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof).
The English cellar aging gives Early Landed cognac a lighter, more delicate character, and Homage shows it: fresh orchard fruit, white flowers and honey on the nose, a silky palate of candied citrus, apricot, vanilla and gentle spice, and a long, elegant, refined finish. It is a cognac for contemplative sipping neat.
