Chapter 5, The Invitation, is Freddie Noe's 2021 Little Book — a fifteen-year Kentucky bourbon blended with two- and five-year bourbons and a three-year rye malt at 116.8 proof, the year he invited the whole Beam family into the blend. Little Book is the annual blended-whiskey series Freddie Noe launched in 2017, named for what his grandfather Booker called him; Freddie is the eighth-generation Beam, now master distiller of the Fred B. Noe Distillery, and each chapter is his experiment, uncut and unfiltered. The Invitation blends four whiskeys from Clermont: two-year Kentucky straight bourbon, three-year Kentucky straight rye malt whiskey, five-year Kentucky straight bourbon, and fifteen-year Kentucky straight bourbon, bottled at 116.8 proof. Breaking Bourbon: baking spice and cinnamon with vanilla and caramel on the nose; Fireball-candy spice with rye and tobacco under tannic oak on the palate; and a finish of leather, cigar box, and lingering peppery heat. The Whiskey Wash and Bourbon Culture found the fifteen-year driving the oak. Honest note: reviewers rank Chapter 5 below the series' best, and they're not wrong that it's the oakiest, spiciest chapter — which is exactly why the Little Book completists and the tannin lovers want it.
